A helper is a person who lays out trails for Ares. We have a system where you take cut up pieces of cloth and lay them out along a trail for Ares. The trail is usually 2-4 miles long.
As you go along the trail we have you carry a GPS so you can mark your pieces of cloth with the gps as you lay them down. Your trail is also recorded on your GPS.
When Ares starts the trail that has been laid I use a different GPS to record the trail as we go along. Once we are done with the trail I take both GPS tracks and I can superimpose them on on a map. I can then see exactly how closely Ares followed the trail.
What do I need to be a helper?
You just need to be able to lay out a realistic trail for Ares, and you need to have the appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. You must also like dogs because when Ares finds you he wants to play with you.

Be an avalanche helper
An avalanche helper does many things to help. You can lend us a piece of clothing that you have worn so we can bury it and dig it up. It must be fleece or wool and no smaller than the size of a sweater.
We need people in ski's & snow shoes to help walk an area to simulate an avalanche. Snow machines are also used, they make the process very quick.
You can come help dig a snow cave, lay in it and have Ares dig you out. Or you can just come and help us dig snow caves. We usually dig caves a day prior to working in them.
If you want to be buried in a snow cave we
have safety rules for the process. The cave will be a certain size depending on your height, you will have a pad to lay on, you will have 1 flashlight, a hand held radio, and you will not be in the cave longer than 20 minutes.
Be a cadaver helper
A cadaver helper puts out the contained cadaver material. As Ares becomes more advanced the material will be buried and hung from trees.
